Folding Camping Trailers: A Great First Choice
When you ask many people how they first got started using campers and trailers, they will tell you that their first purchase was a folding camping trailer. These units go by many other names: pop-ups, tent trailers, box trailers, motorcycle trailers. But the basic design is similar: these units have a base unit on wheels, usually with a trailer hitch. When the unit is opened up, typically a tent will unfold from inside, often extending outwards to give more living space. Depending on which model is selected, folding camping trailers can hold from 2 - 6 - 8 people comfortably. What should you look for in a good folding camping trailer? Price: One of the amazing things about folding camping trailers is their low price, as compared to other types of camping and travel vehicles. This makes them a great choice for young families, or persons with limited incomes. Weight: In general, the lighter the better. Lighter folding camping trailers allow them to be towed by a greater variety of vehicles - including sub-compacts and economy models. As mentioned above, there are even folding camping trailers that are small and light enough to be towed by a motorcycle. Setup and storage: Another great advantage of the folding camping trailer is that it is very easy to set up, and also to take down. As long as the tenting material is clean and dry, the unit can be safely folded away for storage, even for extended lengths of time. In selecting your model, make sure that the tent unit is made from very durable fabric, as this is the part of your unit that will take the brunt of the wear and tear through the years. Living space: Many people think using folding camping trailers means sacrificing space, but that does not need to be the case. Just simply buy a larger model: for example, if you will need a trailer for 2, buy one that sleeps 4. If you will need room for 4, buy a folding camping trailer for 6 and so on. You will find you have all the extra room you need for clothes and food and other camping gear. Conveniences and Extras: Modern-day folding camping trailers can be equipped with kitchen and dining areas, as well as sleeping areas. You can also purchase them with stoves, toilets, refrigerators, air conditioners, showers, and other amenities. Models are also available that include sections of the floor which slide out, giving additional space.
